Gold is real money, real wealth. No other form of currency has endured the test of time as it has. Its resiliency goes back thousands of years, and its position as an uncomparable storehouse of wealth should go on for another 5,000.

Gold is real money, real wealth. No other form of currency has endured the test of time as it has. For thousands of years it has been relied upon as a measure of wealth, and for good reason too.

Currencies all over the world, every single year, go down and down in value, and that’s why every single year prices of goods and services go up. The money in your pocket or in your bank is effectively worth less and less each year. Your money is now buying way less than what it would have bought you 100 years ago, whereas an amount of gold bought a 100 years ago would now buy you way more.

Gold only cost $34 per ounce back in’70 and now, in 2009, it has hit a record price of $1150 per ounce. Gold investors have made huge profits over these past few years – just last year gold could be purchased at $800. That’s a huge 30% increase in just 1 year alone. As for the future, Citigroup, USB and other big investment firms have predicted gold prices to hit over $2000 an ounce in the very near future.

You have two main investment opportunities as far as gold is concerned – bars or coins. Gold bars are what most people think of when they think of gold and whilst they are a great investment, the upfront cost for them puts them beyond the reach of most investors. Gold coins on the other hand are valued in the same way, are an equally good investment opportunity, yet are much more accessible and affordable.

You can purchase gold coins through either a specialist local coin store, or an online gold coin specialist. There are plenty of both around, and you can find them through a few simple Google searches. Always seek reviews and testimonials before making any purchases though, and ask for certification that proves that what you are buying is real gold. Don’t be afraid about asking a lot of questions; it is only natural and reputable sellers should always be more than willing to answer them for you.

One final point, just in case you’re not yet convinced about the prospect of investing in gold – recent reports have shown that a $1000 investment, made in’70, in rare gold coins, would now be valued at nearly $60,000.

Many analysts are of the opinion that commodity investing maybe the best investments in the early part of the 21st century. Take the name of oil, oil is the most heavily traded commodity in the world right now. Gold is another commodity that is reaching record price levels. Gold prices for the first time have breached the unheard of $1000 per ounce barrier. Investing in commodities may be the something that investors thought of boring and dull only a few decades back but not anymore now. If you are interested in investing in companies that are involved in the production, transformation and distribution of commodities, than one of the best ways to do so is through investing in the Master Limited Partnership (MLP).

MLPs are public entities that trade on public exchanges. An MLP issues shares that trade on an exchange just like a company stocks that trades on an exchange. You can invest in an MLP by buying its shares on an exchange. The shares that an MLP issues are called Units and the investors who own them are known as Unit Holders.

Now most of the MLPs trade on the New York Stock Exchange. A few MLPs also trade on the NASDAQ and the AMEX. When you invest in an MLP, you are essentially investing in public partnership. There are tax advantages to investing in MLP. Unlike regular corporations, an MLP is only taxed once. Because of Congressional Legislation, any MLP that derives 90% or more of its income from the production, distribution and transformation of commodities qualifies for this tax exempt scheme. You must be curious how this tax advantage works out.

There is a tax exemption on MLPs. You must be curious how this tax advantage works out. Because of Congressional Legislation, any MLP that derives 90% or more of its income from the production, distribution and transformation of commodities qualifies for this tax exempt scheme.

This tax advantage gives an MLP competitive advantage as compared to other corporations when competing for assets. This means a huge advantage for an MLP. Now an MLP is run by a General Partner (GP). In most cases, the majority of these GPs in MLPs are other corporate entities setup with the specific purpose of running an MLP.

The role of a GP is very important in an MLP. You as an investor in the assets of MLP might have a very limited role or say in its running. You can think of yourself as a sleeping partner in the MLP. In most cases, the majority of these GPs in MLPs are other corporate entities setup with the specific purpose of running an MLP. This tax advantage gives an MLP competitive advantage as compared to other corporations when competing for assets. This means a huge advantage for an MLP. Now an MLP is run by a General Partner (GP). But you don’t have to worry much about the GP. Most GPs do a good job of running the MLP as it is in their financial interests. GPs know that if they don’t make sound management and investment decisions, most of the investors my eventually deicide to divest themselves from the units of the MLP. Now you must know as a limited partner in an MLP, you have limited voting rights. This means when you invest in an MLP, you are giving away the keys of ownership to the GP. This means you are out of the decision making in an MLP.

Investing in MLP units can give you quarterly cash flows as well as appreciation of the unit price. An MLP is obligated to distribute all available cash back to its unit holders on a quarterly basis, so you will be getting a quarterly income from your units. Secondly as the MLP expands and grows overtime, its units may give you capital gain as well.

Trading would be almost impossible without charts and technical analysis. Trading is all about anticipating and predicating rather than forecasting. Technical analysis is the best tool a trader can have. A picture is worth more than a thousand words.

Always remember, trend is your friend. Trading in the direction of the trend is the best trading strategy. Never try to trade against the trend. So determining the primary direction of the trend is highly importanct for you. Primary trend is the direction of the market that offers the least resistance forward making money. When you follow a primary trend in a bull market you look for strong stocks and in a bear market you look for stocks showing weaknesses. The most important thing that you should in a market is its primary trend. In order to determine the primary direction of the trend, you need to draw correct trendlines. This is an art that traders learn with experience. A wrong trendline means lost trades. You use the following tools to determine the primary trend! Knowing the primary trend and trading in its direction increases your chances of making money. So how do you find the primary trend and what tools you need to determine the primary trend?

Trendlines: Knowing how to draw and use trendlines gives you an excellent start on any trade. To correctly draw a rising trendline on the chart, start with the lowest low on the chart and connect it to the lowest low preceding the highest high in the chart without bothering about the prices between the two points. Similarly to draw the down trendline, draw a line connecting the highest high on the chart to the highest high preceding the lowest low of the chart without passing through the prices between the two prices.

Moving Averages: Moving averages are sues to smooth out the market’s trend over a given period of time and serve as an important support and resistance levels. Support level is the price where the prices stop falling and the buyers step in overcoming the selling pressure. A break in the support level is an indication that more weakness may be ahead.

A break above the resistance level is an indication that the market is going strong. Resistance level is the price where prices stop rising and the sellers overcome the buying pressure. You should always keep this rule in mind that you should be out of the market by selling as soon as the key support is broken. On the other hand you should buy into the market as soon as the key resistance is broken.

Oscillators: Oscillators are technical tools whose movements up or below a certain level give you an important trading signal. What is more important to know is the fact that oscillators produce useful mathematical data that can help you tell whether the market is overbought or oversold and whether the momentum of the primary trend in the market is still strong or there is a potential change in the primary trend ahead? Two important oscillators that you should be familiar with are RSI and MACD. Oscillators are graphic depictions of points derived from the mathematical formulas that are plotted below the price charts. Knowing these mathematical formulas is not important as a trader. MACD is a highly popular technical indicator and is widely used by the traders in divergence trading.

Bollinger Bands: Bollinger bands are calculated by plotting points one or more standard deviations above and below the 20-day moving average. However, you can calculate Bollinger Bands with any moving average. Bollinger bands are also known as volatility bands or envelopes. Bollinger bands give you visual evidence when the market has travelled too far in any one direction.

With economic data getting better every day (or at least less dreary), now might make the most sense to start investing in the equity markets. By following these basic strategies, you can improve your probability for success.

1. What is the Price-to-Earnings Ratio for the security in question? Finding out what the PE ratio for a security is allows investors to determine how much revenue each dollar they invest generates for the company. Obviously, the lower the PE ratio, the cheaper the stock price. This ratio can be used to determine how expensive a stock price is relative to comparable securities.

2. Know the debt-to-equity ratio for the security in question. This ratio allows investors to determine how much debt a company owes for every dollar in equity they own. The higher the ratio, the more debt the company has to repay. In difficult times, debt-to-equity can often predict solvency issues. Since this ratio will vary from industry to industry, make sure that securities are compared within the same industry, otherwise the comparison is worthless.

3. Find out what Professional Analysts feel about the stock in question. Since most public companies are reviewed by investment houses for possible inclusion in their own portfolio, these companies will often publicize their recommendations. These recommendations will vary, but will be either Buy, Hold or Sell. Finding out what the pros think about a particular security can provide further confirmation of a position that an investor is looking to take.

The tips noted here are nowhere near complete and exhaustive. However, investors who take the time to dig deeper by understanding these key areas and why the numbers or recommendations are as they are will find their trading success improve almost instantly.

For investors who would rather not deal with the research aspect of investing, mutual funds provide a great alternative as the research and effort is done by the fund company.

Investing and money is a major topic on most people minds. Adding to the fact there is no shortage of people out there trying to make money showing you the secrets to investing and how to get rich investing for a price. Normally the only one who really gets rich from these programs are those selling them.

Looking at the basics of investing we find that there are no set rules. Dont confuse that with the set rules that must be followed when purchasing stock, bonds, buying a house and such. Those are just the details of making it happen. Investing doesnt have any real set of rules, you cant just write down a set of rules for investing and people get rich. We all wished it worked that way.

Investing is actually an art form. Like most art forms it takes knowledge, experience, practice, and lots of hard work. Like art it also takes commitment. Investing is a lifelong practice and commitment with goals along the way.

Whatever area you decide to invest in; stocks, bonds, real estate, and such there is one thing that is always consistent and will directly affect your money. Regardless what you invest in, people and society will always dictate how any investment will do. Why didnt I say data or the investment itself? People and society have a very profound and direct affect on any investment. For example, if you decide to invest in stock, how the company is doing is what determines if you make or lose money. What affects the company more than anything? People run the company; those people will either make or break the company and your investment.

Should I mention Enron? The company fell apart because of greedy people running the company. Investors lost a lot of money due to those people. What about Krispy Kreme? Societys obsession with weight, health, and healthy food almost destroyed the company just because of one report on how unhealthy the doughnuts are to consume. Making matters worse, people at the top almost finished the company because they got involved in fuzzy business practices.

People and society can and always will affect your investments. However, dont look at just the negative. They can also affect them in a very positive way as well. Just look at how many businesses got started. They started with an idea someone had and they grew it into an investment opportunity that it still making some investors kick themselves for not having enough forward insight to invest early.

While looking at the data and details of an investment, also take a look at the people factor. Ask yourself, Would society like this idea or product? Society and people are slow to change, so remember that when you are thinking of an investment which involves a drastic change in the behavior of society. So investing in a drive thru funeral home isnt probably a good idea even though our society loves fast and convenient services and products. Dont laugh; someone already tried it.

So before you throw your money into an investment, look at the people factor. Are the people running the investment worthy of your money? Would society accept such a new idea or product? These and many more questions you should ask yourself before throwing money into an investment.

Each country has their own distinctive currency with a name given to it. Different names came to be given to the currencies such as Dinar, Lira, Franc, Mark, Krone, Pound, Peso, Ruble, Rial and Rupee. Some countries had the same name for their currencies as, for instance, the United States, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Malaysia and Zimbabwe. In recent times, the European Union adopted a common currency for their member countries, namely Euro. International trade required that the trading partners had to exchange goods and services with their respective currencies. Both the national governments and central banks were also selling and purchasing currencies to facilitate trade.

The demand for a particular currency increased when its exports increased. This led to an increase in the value of that currency. However, with liberalization of trade, currency became floating with its rates determined by the market factors of demand and supply.
